2009 Event Schedule

Caboose Rides Sunday August 10th 2009 in New Castle PA

 

July 25-26 - Boys Night Out at West Pittsburg station.
 

CABOOSE RIDES SUNDAY, AUGUST 9TH, 2009

11:00 am to 4:00 pm

Enjoy a 20 minute ride in one of four vintage cabooses on the New Castle Industrial Railroad. See our newest old railcar # 604 !

Trains depart from & return to UN Tower at 102 E Cherry Street, New Castle, PA.

Free parking will be available, and food & beverages can be purchased when you're hungry or thirsty.  There will be numerous vendors & attractions at UN Tower and at the nearby Mahoningtown festival.

Ticket costs are $6.00 for riders 12 years of age & older and $3.00 for children under 12.  Kids 3 and younger ride free.

Speeder Car Rides provided by BLRHS.org May 30 & 31, 2009 May 30 & 31 - Speeder car rides in Darlington, PA.
In conjunction with the 10th annual Darlington Days celebration, the BLRHS will be offering speeder car rides on Saturday, May 30 & Sunday, May 31, 2009. Look for us near the Greersburg Academy between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM each day.

Frosty Rails 2009: March 15th

Did Santa forget to bring some of the model trains or accessories you asked for?  Find what you're missing at Frosty Rails 2009 where dozens of dealers will be selling model trains, accessories, and railroad memorabilia.
The event is sponsored by the BLRHS and will be held Sunday, March 15, 2009 from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM at the Union Township Fire Department's social hall.
The hall is conveniently located at 304 S Scotland Lane, New Castle, PA.

The cost of admission for everyone 12 & older is just $4.00.  There's no admission cost for anyone under 12 years of age.

The kitchen will be open throughout the day, so please stop and see one of the BLRHS members when you're hungry!  Hot food, munchies, and hot & cold drinks will be available at very affordable prices.  All proceeds will benefit our society's restoration projects.

Due to the inclement weather, this evening's Jan 10th BLRHS meeting has been
postponed until next Saturday, January 17.
 

The BLRHS Chapter meeting January 10th will be preceded by a 3:00 PM get-together of Pittsburgh & Lake Erie Railroad Historical Society members and P&LE enthusiasts, modelers, and past employees. Photographs, models, and memorabilia will be displayed. The PLERRHS company store will be
selling fund raising items such as shirts, hats, etc. This event is
open to anyone interested in the P&LE Railroad.
 

2008 Event Schedule

Our 2008 Santa train which was planned for November has been cancelled due to scheduling problems with the Holiday weekend and freight demands of the railroad. We are sad to see this anticipated fundraiser and fun event called off.

 Rides start at 11:00 am and run to 4:00 pm - roundtrip is about 20 minutes .

 Requested Fare: adults 12 and older :$6:00,  under 12 -  $3:00,  children under 3 are free.
